Oil and Gas sector covers onshore production, offshore subsea development, pipeline transmission and refinery processing.
Operating environments feature sour gas, brine, high pressure and elevated downhole temperature, where chloride and hydrogen sulfide induce pitting and stress corrosion cracking. Nickel alloys and high-grade stainless steels are mandatory for safety-critical hardware exposed to harsh formation fluids and seawater.
For subsea trees, risers, umbilical tubing and manifold assemblies, Alloy 625 (UNS N06625) delivers outstanding seawater and sour service corrosion resistance. Alloy 718 (UNS N07718) is widely adopted for wellhead fasteners, valve stems, packers and downhole tool bodies requiring high tensile strength. Hastelloy C-276 (UNS N10276) serves refinery heat exchangers and chemical injection components resisting oxidizing acid media.
Duplex stainless steel 2205 (S32205) and super duplex 2507 (S32750) are used for subsea connectors, flowlines and heat exchanger tubes under moderate-to-severe chloride attack. General corrosion-resistant components including flanges, instrument fittings and refinery piping select 316L (S31603) low-carbon austenitic stainless steel. These CRA (corrosion-resistant alloy) grades prevent premature failure, extend service life and meet API 6A and NACE standards for offshore and deep-well projects.
