Corrosion resistant alloys
UNS Number | UNS N10276 |
Industry Name | Alloy C-276, NC15D14KFe, W.Nr.2.4819 |
Product Forms | Bars, Plates, Strips, Powders |
General Characteristics
Alloy C-276 is engineered to survive the harshest mixed-corrosion service conditions where most stainless steels and standard nickel alloys fail.
Unlike conventional stainless steel, it remains stable under mixed oxidizing-reducing acids, wet chlorine and chloride-rich brines, resisting pitting, crevice attack and stress corrosion cracking.
Its low-carbon formulation avoids intergranular corrosion after welding or laser melting.
As spherical powder for SLM additive manufacturing, it delivers consistent corrosion resistance for complex custom components operating in aggressive corrosive service.

Specific Chemical Compositions Function
Molybdenum provides resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress corrosion cracking whileas stabilizing the passive film in reducing acid environments.
Chromium delivers oxidation resistance and passive film protection in oxidizing media such as nitric acid and hot oxidizing brines.
Low carbon content minimizes intergranular carbide precipitation during high‑temperature processing or welding, preserving corrosion resistance in heat‑affected zones.
Nickel offers ductility, toughness and resistance to chloride‑induced stress corrosion cracking, good fabricability and weldability.

6. Alloy C-276 is prone to hydrogen embrittlement?
Hastelloy C-276 also suffers hydrogen embrittlement, especially in the thermally aged condition when it loses its solution-annealed ductility. It has been found that Hastelloy C-276 is more prone to hydrogen embrittlement than alloy 625 and stainless steel 316L.
