General Characteristics
Alloy 3J53 is a precipitation-hardened Fe-Ni-Cr-Ti-Al constant-modulus precision alloy, equivalent to Ni-Span C 902 (UNS N09902). It was developed to solve the problem that ordinary elastic alloys suffer obvious elastic modulus drift and frequency shift when temperature changes, which caused precision instrument and resonant component errors.
Its core advantage is an extremely low temperature coefficient of elastic modulus within -40°C ~ +80°C. It maintains stable elasticity and resonant frequency over this temperature range. It also features high elastic limit, small hysteresis, good dimensional stability and moderate atmospheric corrosion resistance. It can be formed in solution-treated condition before final aging.
Compared to 3J1, 3J53 has higher nickel content, better temperature stability of elastic modulus and stronger frequency consistency than 3J1. When being compared with 3J21, 3J53 provides steady modulus for frequency components at lower cost and without cobalt activation risk.

Q1: What is the core feature of Alloy 3J53?
A: Alloy 3J53 is a constant-modulus elastic alloy. Its elastic modulus stays nearly unchanged within -40℃ ~ +80℃, minimizing frequency drift caused by temperature variation.
Q2: What is Alloy 3J53 equivalent to?
A: It is equivalent to Ni-Span C 902 (UNS N09902).
Q3: What heat treatment rule should we follow?
A: Forming operations must be finished before aging. Aging after forming develops high elastic limit. Aging the material first then bending or stamping will lead to cracking.
Q4: How does Alloy 3J53 compare with 3J1?
A: Both are constant elastic alloys. 3J53 offers more stable modulus-temperature performance and better frequency consistency than 3J1.
Q5: What is the typical working temperature range?
A: Recommended service range: -40℃ ~ +80℃. Outside this range, modulus stability will decline.
Q6: What melting route do you supply?
A: Vacuum induction melting (VIM) is standard for precision elastic components to control impurities.
